May 23rd 2009 Dear Friend,
I am appalled by the energy that is being devoted for futile expressions of
religious faiths all over the world, and the killings in the name of these
faiths. Intelligence, education, and human relationships do not filter into the
darkness created by these faiths. All of them are serving the G/gods of their
faiths. The expression of 'Pure Reason' developed as a result of my reactions to
the happenings in the world.Human mind is bound to degrade when its gets conquered by the creations of our reasoning. The creations of our reasoning are the religious faiths, materialistic ideologies (both capitalism and communism), and even the technologies that exist for their own sake. The basis of life is the System that many called the 'Truth', the never-ending Reality that sustains life. The products of our reasoning can in no way be a substitute for that. Wherever our products try to conquer human consciousness we find the absence of human conscience too. This is because we can have conscience only when the mind gets nourished by the components of the System that gave us life. This is the real predicament of the civilization. In 2007 I tried to launch the 'Pure Reason Inc', a non-profit corporation for the eradication of religious fundamentalism that has become a threat to life all over the world. I thought that everyone would be ready to help this noble venture as this degradation of human consciousness is the greatest threat that we face everywhere even in this Age of Information Technology. The attempt was a failure, still I remain the only one in this effort. Governments all over still use weapons to tackle the religious fundamentalists who kill people for serving God. I was a college teacher in Kerala, India, from 1967 to 1998. After my retirement in 1998 I moved to Charlottesville, Va, USA. Sincerely, |
